Even back in nursery school, I began to develop my interest in drawing and music.

I remember my childhood dreams: to become a painter!
This marked the beginning of my life, marked by my desire to turn my existence into a work of art.
While growing up, I developed an interest in everything and anything that I could do with my own hands: drawing, sculpture, and playing musical instruments. I developed a passion for the fascinating and limitless world which we call ART. As a very young boy, I well remember being fascinated by the paintings of the Flemish masters, especially those of Van Eyck, the great impressionists such as Renoir, Degas, Van Gogh, not to mention the genius of Leonardo and Raphael and the power of Michelangelo, whose sculptures and brilliance stir me deeply to this day.
I was destined to become a painter, my life was preordained.
By constantly and tenaciously improving my skills as a painter, I have been able to use my imagination to create everything I have dreamed of.
During the 1970s, I studied at the Art Institute of Udine, where I was awarded a Diploma as “Master of Art”. I studied and learned techniques such as drawing and painting with acrylics, tempera, water-colours and mixed techniques on fresh plaster, though I did not explore alfresco techniques.
At the time, painting with oils was not taught at the Art Institute, so in order to learn the necessary techniques I would refer to the manuals of Gino Piva “The technique of drawing and painting with oils”, as well as that of Nicodemi, one of the most useful in learning and perfecting the painting process.

At the age of seventeen, for the inauguration of an art gallery in Udine, I was commissioned to create a personal show in which I exhibited around a dozen works together with an old friend from my school days.
This experience was unexpectedly successful, to the extent that all the paintings – apart from two which I decided to keep for myself – were sold.
This was an unforgettable period during which the school helped me so much and gave me the possibility of beginning a life path which offered so many emotions and to which I am dedicated to this day.
I will for ever remember and be grateful to the teachers who gave me my love of art.
By now, my passion had become my profession.
At the same time, I completed works for a number of graphics studios and scenic designs for theatre plays, and for the Municipality of Fagagna I produced the Manifesto for the Millenial celebration of the founding of the Municipality.

At the age of 35, though certainly gratified by the enormous interest in my work, I found myself frustrated by the incessant request for paintings, and I began to discover an inner need to draw and paint for my personal pleasure only. I decided to interrupt my activities as a for-commission painter and began to work at a cartography studio, which guaranteed by economic independence, leaving me to continue to develop my passion for art during my leisure time.
To this day, I enjoy drawing with pens or pencils on blank paper, a technique that I love perhaps even more than painting.

Over the following years, Graziano Lauzana began to receive numerous commissions from private individuals for his drawings and paintings: still life, landscapes and portraits were the preferred subjects.
